TASHWIN CLAASEN has been dancing since the age of 11 years old to “dubstep” music, which is predominantly “freestyle/ improvisational” at nature. He danced at church functions, school talent shows and with dance crews in his hometown in Blue Downs, Malibu Village. He is a self-taught dancer, inspired by watching other talented dancers and YouTube videos. At the 18 years old, he has entered a talent show called “Starlight” at Floodlight Dance Theatre Company, where he won 1st place for "best dancer of the evening" and "overall winner" of the talent show. He then received a bursary from Floodlight DTC and completed his Hip Hop Teacher’s qualification through Theatre Dance Association 2015-2017 and then completed his majors in 2018 with TDA directly. He was a former dance teacher and Hip Hop coordinator at Floodlight DTC 2015-2017. He joined LOVE.DANCE AGENCY (Didi Moses) in 2018 and booked 2 TVC jobs in the first 5 months.

TASHWIN CLAASEN has choreographed dances that showcased/competed in ‘Dancers for Dancers at Artscape’, ‘Dans in jou taal Competition’, ‘SA Nationals- Western Province’, ‘Eisteddfods’ and ‘Concerts’ receiving positive feedback from the audience and judges. He has also won the Eisteddfod solo section in 2015 receiving ‘Best Solo Dancer’ and ‘Overall winner’ of the evening. He has qualified at SA Nationals in 2016 to compete in L.A but could not go because of funds.

TASHWIN CLAASEN is currently a freelance teacher/choreographer/dancer, teaching classes at Reddam House Durbanville, Somerset College and Pneumatix Performing Arts Academy.

His passion for dancing is beyond words - He appreciates the art of dance and always strives to learn and grow as a dancer.
