Marelize Theron

Tap Teacher
Marelize started her modern and tap career at the age of 5 with Gail Barr in Ficksburg. She continued her training under Jean Parker, Verne Krige and Berryl Saayman respectively and has been dancing for over 26 years. Marelize is a fully qualified teacher of the AIDT (Association of International Dance Teachers) and therefore teaches the international dance syllabus as well as train associate teachers. She has received high accolades for competitive choreography, shows, performances and exams. She is also a member of the TDA (Theatre Dance Association).
Marelize worked for Outline Dance Centre (2004 - 2014) and Cape Academy of Performing Arts (2009 - 2016) as the head of their Tap Departments, respectively. She has also presented workshops at various events including The International Tap Day.
2015 Marelize opened her own Tap Dance Studio in Somerset West, her pupils winning many awards at the Cape Town Eisteddfod and TDA's Eisteddfod of the performing Arts.
Marelize has a sincere passion for Tap Dancing, the teaching and choreography thereof and her professionalism and enthusiasm is expanded through all her public involvement.
She welcomes everyone to the percussive world of tapping and hopes to inspire while sharing her knowledge and love of the craft with students.
